I'm Rick. I'm not a tech genius and I'm not a guru. I'm someone who had to rebuild with AI from almost nothing — and found out these tools are finally within reach for ordinary people. This is how that happened, and why I built Ashes to Enterprise for the person standing where I stood.
The old life worked — until my body couldn't carry it.
Before any of this, I was the number-one timeshare closer in Branson, Missouri. I was good at it. I could walk into a room, earn a stranger's trust, and close a deal — that was the whole job, and the whole paycheck. And it all rested on one fragile thing: my ability to physically show up.
Then Covid shut the room down overnight. And before I could find my feet, I got sick. Not slowly. Not with a warning. Overnight. The kind of sick you don't simply walk back from to the life you had. In a matter of days, the only way I knew how to earn a living was gone — and so was the body I'd built it on.
I'm telling you this for one reason.
What I live with now has a name: autonomic dysreflexia, from a spinal cord injury. If you don't know what that is, the short version is this — it touches every part of my life, every single day. There are hours I can work, and hours my body simply takes back without asking.

It started with me arguing with my phone.

That was it. That stubbornness — the same instinct that used to close deals in a room — had found a new room to work in. I wasn't trying to learn "AI." I was just refusing to accept a weak answer. And somewhere in that back-and-forth, I figured out how to make these tools actually do what they're capable of.
Most people quit at the first disappointing reply. I didn't stop.
Two years later, I don't work alone. I direct a team.
